Informed Scotland September 2023 – Young people’s choices, influences & futures
September is usually a hectic month for learning & skills, as everyone returns after their summer breaks and the Scottish Government sets out its programme for the year.
This year it was relatively quiet across the landscape, even though the new government programme includes plenty of education & skills related priorities.
There are still numerous reports and announcements to keep you busy, however, including:
- Two reports on young people’s views on their education and career choices, influences, plans and dreams: one from the Prince’s Trust & LADbible Group and one from Skills Development Scotland
- The UK Employer Skills Survey [ESS] 2022 – good to see Scotland opting back into this biennial study after going its own way since 2017
- A Robert Gordon University Energy Transition Unit report on The future of the UK offshore energy workforce
- Annual reports on college students, staff and finances from Audit Scotland and Colleges Scotland
- Scottish Government’s announcement about the new Scottish Education Exchange Programme – the promised replacement for Erasmus
- And the very welcome news that the UK has at last rejoined the EU’s Horizon Europe funding programme.
