Informed Scotland November 2023 – Green skills, jobs & careers
The hottest topics, aside from education reform (covered in the October issue), were school pupil behaviour & attendance and green skills, jobs and careers. The latter included:
- A Prince’s Trust report by Public First on young people’s readiness for the net zero revolution and a timely EAUC Scotland green careers guide
- A Skills Development Scotland report on A dynamic skills response to supporting the transition to net zero
- OECD reports on Skills for a resilient green and digital transition and Empowering all learners to go green – the focus of this year’s Education Policy Outlook
- A Green Jobs Foundation State of the nation report.
Other items to highlight:
- City & Guilds’ second annual Training Trends survey report
- A Business in the Community report highlighting the differences between upskilling of lower skilled and higher skilled employees
- Education Support’s annual Teacher Wellbeing Index, with a focus this year on attitudes to inspections
- The annual detailed survey of Adult participation in learning from the Learning & Work Institute
Finally, the latest OECD PISA results were published this week and will be covered in the next issue. But in November, an Institute for Fiscal Studies report explored the impact of ‘affluence’ on Scottish pupils’ performance in previous PISA tests.
The next issue will be the Dec/Jan edition out in February 2024. However in January look out for the 11th annual stocktake of Learning & Skills ‘Hottest Topics’ from Informed covers in 2023. Wonder how it will compare with the 2022 list?
