Cyber Scotland Week helped to make cyber skills one of the hottest topics last month – ‘cyber’ is mentioned in this edition 20 times.
The main items were a new Scottish Government Strategic Framework for a Cyber Resilient Scotland with learning & skills a key element; a new UK Cyber Security Council which will be the governing body on training and standards; and Education Scotland funding the development of new cyber security courses for teachers by Abertay University and Inverness College UHI.
In other developments, look out for:
- a comprehensive review of career services announced by Skills Development Scotland
- City & Guilds’ Building bridges towards future jobs report, highlighting the importance of transferable skills
- IPPR’s Skills for a green recovery report for the construction industry
- an Institute for Employment Studies and Youth Futures Foundation report on the unequal impact of the pandemic on the youth labour market
- and the latest statistics on school leavers, Modern Apprenticeships and university applications, which show evidence of the changes and challenges created by the COVID-19 crisis.
