The last two months were prolific for learning & skills, despite including the festive period.
Packed with new courses and partnership projects, annual statistics and surveys, resources and research, there were also announcements…
- the University of Glasgow being selected as host of Scotland’s new Centre for Teaching Excellence
- confirmation that apprenticeships are to be allocated UCAS Tariff points on applications from 2026
- a new Scottish Parliament Education, Children & Young People Committee inquiry into progress on widening access to higher education
- Scottish Government’s plans to consolidate all post-school provision funding within the Scottish Funding Council and all student support funding within SAAS
- the new Energy Skills Passport pilot
- a new Quality improvement framework for early learning & childcare from Education Scotland & the Care Inspectorate
- and the awarding of UNESCO Learning City status to Glasgow – many congratulations, with particular mention of the tireless work of Emeritus Prof Mike Osbourne, former director of CR&DALL, University of Glasgow, and of PASCAL Observatory.
